Territory War
Territory War

Two teams of stickmen stand on a small island, each one with a name tag and a health bar, and only one of them gets to act at a time. When your turn comes, you can walk a short distance or stay put, then pick a grenade, a gun or a boot. Territory War is a free turn based stickman battle game you play in your browser. You take turns with a rival team, throw grenades, aim headshots and kick enemies off the map until only your side is left standing.

Main Controls

  • Move and change direction: LEFT ARROW KEY or RIGHT ARROW KEY
  • Jump: SPACE
  • Aim up or down: UP ARROW KEY or DOWN ARROW KEY
  • Throw a grenade: hold SPACE to build power, then release
  • Pick an action: 1, 2, 3, 4 or LEFT CLICK

How It Works

Territory War, made by Shawn Tanner of Afro Ninja Productions in 2006, puts 2 teams of stickmen on the same map and lets them act one at a time. The top of the screen shows each team's name, fighters left and total health. Every turn starts with 2 options, Move and Stay. Moving lets you walk left or right and jump, but a Distance Travelled bar limits how far you can go.

Once you stop, the attack options appear. Grenades cause heavy damage and reach far targets, the gun hits only one target but can land an instant kill headshot on a fighter below half health, and the boot does very little damage but can knock someone off the stage for an instant kill. You can play the Campaign, take on Challenges or set up a Custom Battle against a friend on the same computer or against the CPU, with your own team size, names, hats and a map such as The Island, The Graveyard, The Void or The Hill. Missions and challenges unlock more stages and hats.

  1. Click Custom Battle and choose Player1 vs CPU or Player1 vs Player2.
  2. Set the fighters per team and pick hats.
  3. Name your team and choose a map.
  4. On your turn, pick Move or Stay.
  5. Walk with the ARROW KEYS and jump with SPACE if you moved.
  6. Choose grenade, gun or boot and aim with the ARROW KEYS.
  7. Hold SPACE to throw, then watch the rival team take its turn.

What Makes It Stand Out

  • 3 very different attacks: Grenades for splash damage, the gun for headshots and the boot for ring outs.
  • Instant kills: A headshot on a weak fighter or a kick off the edge ends a fighter at once.
  • Local 2 player mode: Player1 vs Player2 lets 2 people share one keyboard.
  • Campaign and Challenges: Missions and challenges unlock new maps and hats.
  • 6 Custom Battle maps: The Island, The Graveyard, The Void, The Hill and 2 locked maps each have their own platforms and gaps.

Getting Started

  • Start Territory War with a Player1 vs CPU battle. It is the easiest way to learn the turn order before the campaign.
  • Use Stay when you already have a good angle. Walking only matters when no target is in reach.
  • Save the gun for weak fighters. The headshot instant kill only works on targets below half health.
  • Look for edges. A fighter standing near water or a drop is the perfect boot target.

Going Further

Territory War rewards positioning as much as aim. The movement bar is short, so the spot where a fighter ends a turn decides what the enemy can do next, and a fighter left near an edge is an easy ring out. Grenades are the safest damage, since they hit far away and do not need a clear line, while the gun and boot carry the big payoffs. Team health at the top of the screen tells you which side is ahead, but the number of fighters left matters more, because every fighter is another turn.

Mistakes Worth Avoiding

  • Walking into the open. Ending a turn in clear view hands the enemy an easy grenade.
  • Shooting healthy fighters. The gun only scores an instant kill below half health.
  • Throwing at full power every time. Strong throws often sail past nearby targets.
  • Standing near the edge. One kick from the boot ends your fighter for good.

Similar Stickman Games

If the stickman battles hooked you, Gun Mayhem 2: More Mayhem turns the fight into fast real time shootouts where knocking rivals off the stage wins. Tank Trouble keeps the bouncing shots and local multiplayer in a maze of walls. For a bigger war, Stick War Saga lets you build whole stickman armies and lead them across the battlefield. More picks are in Stickman Games.

Final Thoughts

The Territory War game is a classic turn based stickman battle with a simple idea and plenty of tense moments. Playing Territory War online works best on a computer with a keyboard, since moving, aiming and throwing all use the ARROW KEYS and SPACE. Players looking for fast action may find the turns slow, but anyone who enjoys a well aimed grenade will keep coming back.
